Professor Haynes is the director of the CCAT project, a submillimeter telescope to be built at an altitude of 18,000 feet in the high Atacama Desert of northern Chile.
Prof. Haynes is the co-PI of the ALFALFA survey, including the Undergraduate ALFALFA Team. The Cornell ExtraGalactic Group observes a lot with the Arecibo telescope -- Perhaps you saw this telescope in the films "Golden Eye" or "Contact".
Our recent work on Fast Radio Bursts got quite a bit of coverage in the media, including the New York Times and the Washington Post. One of the co-authors was an undergraduate summer student in the Cornell REU program!
