New! GEMS Space Science Core Curriculum Sequence
GEMS has a terrific new Space Science curriculum sequence for grades 3-5. Grades 6-8 should be available by next spring. GEMS Sequences combine the vitality and excellence of the traditional GEMS Teacher Guides with greater coherence, more scientific and educational depth, systematic assessment, information readings, and new learning technologies. The GEMS Space Science Sequence provides an effective and time-efficient way to teach the key concepts of space science and give students the opportunity to be scientists, as they learn how scientists inquire about the Universe. The materials focus strategically and effectively on the core science concepts that students need to understand within a scientific discipline, and provide numerous opportunities for students to develop inquiry skills and abilities. The lessons have been designed in accordance with the latest research on human learning. A significant number and range of national, state, and district standards and benchmarks are addressed in depth throughout this sequence. The materials have been classroom tested by teachers across the U.S. in a wide variety of classroom settings. http://www.carolina.com/carolina_curriculum/gems/core_sequences.asp
