Visit us on Friday nights!

The Cornell Astronomical Society (CAS) runs the public viewing nights at the Fuertes Observatory. We are typically open every clear Friday night, year-round, except possibly for Christmas and New Years. Winter hours (mid-October to mid-April) are 8:00pm until midnight; summer hours (the rest of the year) are 9:00pm to midnight. On occasion we may open early. To find out if the observatory is currently open, call (607) 255-3557 for the prerecorded message. Check our observing page for the latest forecast and a list of likely targets.

Announcements of special observing sessions and other CAS events will be posted on the CAS announcement mailing list. To subscribe click here.

Visits

Group observing sessions and educational visits can be arranged on non-Fridays and any night when the observatory is not reserved for introductory astronomy classes. Scheduling of events is subject to availability of Cornell Astronomical Society officers who are mostly undergraduate and graduate students. If you're interested, contact CAS president Michael Hammer.
