Dear Paula,
I think Oberon had better watch his step, or he's going to be left with
a stag House. Nerene is leaving, one way or another. Maybe Deirdre will
be bullied into staying, but I can't see her delightful barbarian daughter,
Atura, putting up with Oberon's crap. Llewella is in Shadow licking her
wounds, and Flora and Fiona are hiding somewhere (together) too. That
leaves Dori, who has already shacked up with Grandpa. (Ew!)
I don't think Oberon explicitly forbad Nerene to learn any powers, but
becoming a Trump Godess doesn't really fall within the "Decorative
Womb" role. (Don't worry, though -- Dairmaid has been spending almost
ALL of his time training with Nerene, either at arms, unarmed combat,
or shapeshifting. If his own grasp of tactics weren't, er, *tentative*,
they'd be working at that, too.) We're avoiding Flora, at the moment.
She keeps eating people's brains. Dori's spread the warning far and wide.
According to Gelb, we have the right to leave House Amber and join Jesby
(if we're invited, which, considering the premium on Oberon's bloodline,
we will be). The only sticking point is that we might be required to
provide a child for House Amber. Now, wait a cotton pickin' minute,
Dairmaid says. We're LEAVING because Oberon is an overbearing prick.
But we have to give him one of our CHILDREN to raise? What's WRONG
with this picture?
These Chaosites are a wee bit too obsessed about breeding, if you ask
me. Geez, lighten up. Thousands of years of eugenics and they're STILL
not as cool as us? Give it up! Have a baby with the being you love,
and to hell with pedigrees and dominant traits.
Who was Benedict's twin? Whelan? So far, Lucien, Chiara and Whelan
are the only folks from the old campaign who've been mentioned.
Oooh -- I forgot to tell you. Llewella has revived the Art of the
Truename Trump. All the Trumps we've seen thus far have been the
Zelazny/Wujick standard. But last session, Llew loaned Lazarus a
Trump of Morgan that was backed with a circle of dolphins (meaning
that she probably drew it), and when Lazarus trumped Morgan he
completely circumvented Morgan's defenses and had a pipeline right to
Morgan's tender pink psyche. Laz didn't notice this, and Llewella hadn't
warned him that the trump was in any way unusual. Jason intimated that
perhaps this was a technique Llewella has only now recovered, after
Oberon altered nearly all his children Long Ago.
I think Oberon's in for a rude awakening. Nobody's happy with the
Old Man, and I hope it will only be a matter of time before they get
irritated enough to hatch a scheme against him. Maybe they've already
begun plotting, and I'm just not cool enough to be included. Damn cagey
elders.
