Dear Britt,
I believe the bugging of the Keep. Chiara sent Benedict around
the embassy when she was ambassador to Chaos, and he found a bunch of
that, which we left in place. On the other hand, whether or not Oberon's
real reason for the command about women not learning to fight was what he
said is definitely open to question. He does have a possible personal
reason for wanting the Lords of Chaos to think Amber women can't fight,
which I won't go into, because even Chiara didn't know about it. On the
other hand, any time Oberon says he has a particular set of motives, that
in itself is a reason to question.
The idea of Llewella and Bleys cooperating startled me for a
moment, until I remembered that it is my Bleys who's totally off his
rocker. As to Dairmaid's participation in this rebellion, I hope it
doesn't end up like the one borderline involvement that one of my
characters, whose name escapes me entirely, got into. That was
embarassing. Of course, embarassed or not, she didn't think she was left
with much choice. Corwin was king at the moment, and he deliberately
maneuvered her into it.
I will be interested to see it, if I ever find a campaign in
which Caine does not fake his death. Appropo of which, Oberon has no
parental skills, and in fact, on at least three occasions I can think of,
Chiara ended up having to push him around, because he hadn't much else
for skills at getting along with people, either.
Lazarus has no taste in associates (even if associating with
Mandor so much was not necessarily of his choosing), or locals to
inhabit. By the way, speaking of people with no taste, do you suppose
Dori is missing a few screws because of her relationship to the royal
interior decorator? Who is Buddy? You may have told me once, but I
certainly don't remember at the moment. Sounds like some demon or other.
If Jason is still playing Eric the way he was, the fact that Eric is now
aware that he has gaps in his memory and Dairmaid has told him Oberon was
responsible could have some rather interesting consequences. To say the
least.
Dairmaid's costume reminds me of Chiara's propensity for walking
through Amber City in her wet suit. It took her the longest time to
figure out why people (including a couple of her brothers) were gawking.
Not too bright about some things - especially when she didn't want to
know.
						Paula
