Dear Paula,

This is a 2-week Amber summary. I know, I haven't written to you for 3
weeks, but last week was Easter and everbody ducked out. So I figure I
ought to write to you now, partially to refresh my own memory, and partly
because I don't want ot have to summarize THREE weeks.

Buddy is a big red scarey bird -- a roc, to be precise. Caine and
Dairmaid found him after Moire used the Jewel of Rebma to send Caine off
to parts unknown when Caine said the Wrong Thing at the Wrong Time.
Dairmaid, being a glutton for punishment, asked Moire to send him after
Caine, and then together we fought our way through an elemental earth
shadow, a water shadow, and an air shadow, where we found Buddy.
Luckily, we were saved from the fire shadow by a wave of nothingness.
Buddy's got a 30 foot wing span, and he's just a baby, so he's still
growing. He's also very bright, and capable of speech. Dairmaid's
trying to raise him to be a polite and gentle bird, which is a little
tough, considering the circumstances.

Dairmaid and Nerene did go shopping. Dairmaid bought an outfit suitable
for running roughshod through the bush in, an outfit suitable for a
fashionable dinner in Chaos, and a bunch more pairs of trunks. On the
way home, they passed a very tempting disturbance which we only saw
from afar off. Britt-the-player wanted very much to investigate, but
Dairmaid-the-character wouldn't knowingly let Nerene march into a fray.

Dairmaid talked to Bleys, letting him know that Eric's memory was
returning, and also mentioning Caine's death. Bleys acted surprised at
this, so either his sources in Chaos aren't as good as I thought (maybe
consisting only of me?) or he doesn't want me to know how much he knows.
Dairmaid also talked to Llewella about Morgan. She didn't exactly give a
ringing endorsement of his character, so I've decided to have dinner with
him in some public place. Since none of the demon guides around the
Keep knew of a good restruant, Dairmaid went off on his own to snoop
around and read some food magazines. On the way home, he was harrassed
by three Jesby punks and a Hendrake. He broke both the Hendrake's knees
and then went on his way. I don't know if this will lead to trouble.

Anyway, Dairmaid invited Morgan to dinner at a nice, well-populated place.

Dairmaid sweet-talked Atura into helping him find Caine. Atura asked why,
and the best Dairmaid could come up with was "To set a good example."
Atura thought that was pretty dumb, but agreed anyway. (Dairmaid also
told her that if they found Caine strung up by the ankles somewhere,
he'd let her poke Caine with a stick while he worked on the locks.) She
sternly told Dairmaid that he'd better not get any "ideas." Dairmaid acted
all offended. Then he said that if Atura got any "ideas," she should feel
free to act upon them.

The shapeshifting lessons have begun. When Dairmaid went back to his
rooms, there were two gaurds standing outside. Scared the bejesus out of
me! I thought Dairmaid was about to be escorted to a nice sturdy cell
for bugging Eric about the gaps in his memory. But these were his new
students. No family members -- lack of interest, trust on their part, or
trust on Oberon's part?

Eric and Dairmaid went off to a tavern. Eric said he was remembering
impressions, feelings, snatches of scenes. Dairmaid outlined recent
events and Eric kept nodding. He told Dairmaid that he was going to talk
to Oberon about it. (Wouldn't be MY first course of action!) I noticed
that Eric wasn't afraid of Oberon like the rest of the family. He said
it's because he was raised out in shadow -- thought he was an orphan. He
lived on his own for a long time.

So Dairmaid is pacing the floors, waiting for the first hint that Oberon
was going to take exception to somebody messing up his nice memory wipe.

Lazarus and companion are wending their way through Mandor's Hells. She
says that she's been Mandor's captive since she was a little girl. She
was raised a proper little lady, and is seriously impeding Lazarus'
progress. My theory : Mandor expected Lazarus to try to escape (which
was probably a poor assumption -- Laz is a go-with-the-flow kindofa guy)
and saddled him with this pretty little ball and chain to slow him down
and keep an eye on him.

Morgan's meeting with Dara went well. Lots of questioning and probing
and siddling around issues. He also met with another house (Minobee?)
but that dinner went just the opposite -- no direct questions, just
chit-chat. He has another invitation from Dara. Morgan is also
continuing his training to become a Barrimen.

Dori had a heart-to-heart with an Unseelie friend of hers while the
rest of the players were having a raucous discussion on the other side of
the room. As a result, Amy (Dori's player) knows more about this
truename business than the rest of us put together.

I've probably left some things out -- next week's summary will be more
prompt so my memory is fresh!

						Britt
