Dear Paula,

Unfortunately, Oberon and Eric had it out behind closed doors, so I can't
give you the blow-by-blow. The wierd thing is that Oberon was a real kitten.
Eric says he admitted that altering Eric's memories was wrong. Eric was all
frustrated. I know how he feels -- he went in filled with outrage and
spoiling for a fight, and Oberon says, "You're right. I'm wrong. How about
a hug?" Well, I doubt he offered a hug. Eric's still annoyed at the whole
situation. He's really irritated that Oberon told Corwin to take the throne
without making any contact with Eric. Eric says he has NO IDEA why Corwin
disappeared and he only took the throne because Oberon had been gone so long
and hadn't named and heir and Benedict wouldn't do it. (And if you believe
THAT I have a swimming pool in Rebma you might be interested in buying.)

To add insult to injury, since Oberon through Dworkin has an Imperial
lineage, he wants them to acknowledge Corwin as his heir. This steams Eric
because a) he agrees with Dairmaid that Corwin's a world class jerk and
b) Corwin's claim to legitimacy is a rushed wedding to their mother just
before the birth. But then again, Eric isn't interested in the throne in
Chaos. He doesn't really want anyone from House Amber in line for the
throne, because he thinks it will lead to another war.

Dairmaid and Morgan finally made arrangements to meet for dinner after a
little rescheduling. Should be first thing next week's session!

Atura is all riled up about something. She asked Dairmaid when he planned
on leaving to find Caine, and he said he had a dinner appointment that
evening, but we could leave after that. She snarled back, "Which is more
important to you, Caine's life, or wining and dining some hellmaid?"

Remarkably unfair. If it HAD been a hellmaid Dairmaid was meeting, I'd
STILL be annoyed. Dairmaid said it was nice that she was so interested
in his social life, and would she like to begin keeping his appointment
calendar? Then he pointed out that Caine's Trump was still cold, and had
been for several days since his disappearance, so it was doubtful he was
in any danger, and he could wait until after dinner.

She huffed out. Must be something bothering her. Maybe she's unhappy
with Dierdre or someone and wants to get out of the Castle.

As for setting a good example, Dairmaid has the misfortune of being a
nice guy. The more pathetic someone is, the more Dairmaid wants to be
nice to him. And can you get more pathetic than Caine, I ask you? He's
not a *bad* person -- he never goes out of his way to get someone. Of
course, if the opportunity arises and it's no skin of his nose, sure
he'll ruin your day. But I don't think he's completely unredeemable.

I don't know what Oberon knows about Dorie and her fey friends. I don't
think she'd be shy about talking about it, but male Elders have a
tendency to completely ignore whatever she says. Usually that's a safe
strategy. Dairmaid says, "You know what's the worst about it? You have
to listen to her closely . . . alllll the time. Cause she'll say something
important inbetween a critique of the curtains and complimenting
someone's hairdresser."

Bleys doesn't seem like too bad an egg. He seems to have forgiven
Dairmaid for shooting his legs off. Just like Dairmaid has forgiven him
for whacking him with a massive anti-shapeshifter-pattern-spell by
accident. But they haven't really interacted much. Llewella says Bleys
can be a little dense. Seems like it -- the distracted scholar type.
